conversation

just had a short conversation with people in my office. this guy, a hindu, our friendly client who rent one of our cubicle at the corner, saw me munching on a biscuit earlier this morning. he was like... looking at me, puzzled.

e guy: "hey, ain't u telling me something???"

me (feeling paiseh): "ahhh, i'm not fasting lah today."

e guy: "y?"

me: "muslim women don't fast & pray when they are having menses"

e guy: "oh really. interesting..."

then, came other female colleagues (Ms D & Ms L) at our pantry area. they heard our conversation.

Ms D: "eh, i think religion is unfair to women lah. when we have menses cannot pray lah, cannot go temple or mosque. we are considered as unclean, right? "

e guy: "same goes for hindu, our women can't enter the temple when they have menses"

*here comes the explanation of why muslim women can't pray & fast. which i shall not elaborate here. then we start talking about women. how women are supposed to be appreciated & all. to conclude, e guy said that the reason y their women don't enter the temple while having menses & forbid them to even leaving their homes without men is bcoz they wanted to protect their women. his people in his village still practice this till today. impressive, right??? people who do not understand ISLAM realise how important it is to protect their women. subhanAllah.

i was quite stunned when i heard that. in a good way that is. Allahu akhbar. anyway, most of our conversations all this while has been quite interesting. 1) he will illustrate his unique travel journeys to the gulf area- he speaks simple arabic too, 2) he not owning any TV ever since he got married- this was a pleasant surprise yet i see that there are alot of goodness in it... how he & his wife spend their time doing alot of reading... alot, ok... =), 3) how he & his wife educate their daughter at home- creative ways with imagination & full enthusiasm.

i would not be surprised that one day, e guy & his immediate family might revert to MUSLIMS. May Allah open their hearts to accept the deen. ameen. =)
